LawNeeds – Terms and Conditions for A2J Partners
Effective Date: 1st June, 2025.
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“You”, “Partner”, “Organisation”, “User”) and LawNeeds Ltd. (“LawNeeds”, “We”, “Us”, “Our”) concerning your access to and use of the LawNeeds mobile application (“Application”) in your capacity as an Access to Justice (A2J) Partner, including but not limited to Legal aid organisations, Pro-bono clinics, and charitable Law Centres.
By registering and using the Application, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use LawNeeds.
1. Eligibility and Organisational Registration
• You must be a bona fide legal services organisation offering free or low-cost legal services to underserved communities in the UK.
• You warrant that all organisational and staff information provided during registration is accurate, current, and complete, and that this information will be updated as necessary.
• We reserve the right to verify your organisation’s credentials and may approve, suspend, or terminate access to the platform based on compliance and integrity checks.
2. Permitted Use of the Application
The Application may only be used to support the delivery of access-to-justice services, including but not limited to: legal triage, legal guidance, document support, and referrals.
You may not use the platform to:
• Promote political or non-legal advocacy
• Engage in fundraising unrelated to legal services
• Circumvent applicable legal practice standards
3. Professional and Ethical Conduct
• You agree to uphold professional and ethical standards in all engagements through the Application.
• All services provided must align with your organisation’s stated mission of increasing access to justice and serving underserved populations.
• LawNeeds assumes no liability for the legal content you provide and does not supervise or moderate your advice.
4. Service-Level Expectations
• While you are not under a strict obligation to respond to every request, you agree to make reasonable efforts to respond to eligible user queries within two (2) business days, where capacity allows. Timely responses are strongly encouraged, as they play a vital role in maintaining trust in LawNeeds’ freemium access-to-justice offering.
• We recognise that services are offered voluntarily or on a limited-resources basis; however, repeated delays exceeding this timeframe, without a reasonable justification, may result in a review of your continued access, as they may adversely affect user confidence in the platform.
• You acknowledge your contribution plays a critical role in maintaining user trust in the freemium offering of LawNeeds.
5. Confidentiality and Data Protection
• You are responsible for maintaining confidentiality and handling all data in accordance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and relevant professional conduct rules.
• Case and user data accessed through the Application must not be shared or used for purposes outside of the user’s legal matter.
• You must ensure your team is trained and compliant with data handling requirements.
6. Account Security
• Your organisation is responsible for account credentials and for limiting access to authorised personnel only.
• Notify LawNeeds immediately of any suspected breach or misuse of organisational accounts.
7. Platform Limitations and Disclaimer
• The Application is a facilitation tool and does not substitute your legal judgment or your organisational policies.
• LawNeeds may generate AI-supported guidance as a preliminary aid to users. You are encouraged to verify and correct any such content before relying on it during engagements.
8. Anti-Money Laundering (AML)
• You remain independently responsible for all AML obligations applicable to their legal services. LawNeeds operates solely as a facilitative platform and does not verify end-user identity or perform client AML checks on behalf of its partners.
9. Fees and Commercial Restrictions
• Your use of the platform under the A2J Partner category is free of charge, although access to some features may be subject to subscription fees or pay-per-use charges, due to usage limitations. Payment details and pricing terms will be communicated separately via the Application.
• Late or failed payments may result in restricted platform access as regards the services aforementioned.
• You may not monetise services provided via the freemium platform or promote paid legal services while operating under this access tier.
10. Intellectual Property
• All Application content and functionality remain the property of LawNeeds Ltd.
• You retain ownership of content you upload or create through the Application but grant LawNeeds a limited, non-exclusive licence to use such content to support platform functionality and improve access-to-justice outcomes.
11. Termination
• LawNeeds may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms, reputational risk, or failure to adhere to acceptable use standards.
• You may cease use of the Application at any time by written notice to LawNeeds.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, LawNeeds disclaims liability for:
• Delays or disruptions caused by internet or server issues
• Inaccurate or incomplete information generated by AI tools
• Any indirect or consequential losses from your use of the platform
13. Amendments
• LawNeeds may update these Terms periodically. You will be notified of material changes 30 days before they become effective.
• Continued use after such changes constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing Law
• These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
